Layover, BRW

the following are images from a few hours spent in Barrow a few weeks ago. i can't begin to explain my first impressions of the place. it was absolutely surreal. all i can say is that it will not be, cannot be, my only time spent there.

It is amazing how different Barrow is from Prudhoe. People actually live there. And what would be hidden behind fences or trees or shrubs, or disposed of in the garbage dump, is out in the open - no hiding one's junk, and no getting rid of it in case it could come in handy one day. In contrast, Prudhoe has the cold industrial edge in every direction one looks. I will look forward to seeing your other pictures from either place.

Dana, i thought about that a lot those two days. the two places couldn't be any more opposed. Prudhoe is so one dimensional - money. Barrow reeks of sheer survival and neglect. i'll post more images soon.

Arctic Ocean - I don't know how to explain the feeling when I look into that shot. It's incredible, thank you. x

These images are fantastic Ben, thanks to your skills I am able to enjoy the idyllic landscape on offer in Alaska miles and miles away at home in Britain, and it's so much sweeter viewing it all with the benefits of your eye for composition.
